For Robert Miklos the island of Nantucket, as small as it is, has provided unlimited subject matter for interpretation, with many scenes and places still to discover.
This Process section provides a few snapshots into Robert’s process of observation. He begins each work with an idea or methodology for the development of the image, but as the painting progresses it takes on a life of its own. Drawing from his toolbox of techniques, each painting becomes an experiment in its own right, helping to inform a larger body of work and future investigations.
LEGACY
Nantucket’s rich history and legacy has continued to provide inspiration for artists for over 200 years. In his work, Robert is expanding on that tradition.
EN PLEIN AIR
Having recorded over 50 scenes of Nantucket by painting on site, Robert continues his love of painting outdoors, en plein air.
WATERCOLOR COLLAGE
Combining the traditional techniques of drawing and watercolor with photo images can result in dynamic and unexpected images of familiar places.
OIL COLLAGE
The process of working in oil when combined with drawing and collage provides the potential to create a whole new dimension in painting.
